33rd Annual Native Peoples Festival and PowWow
The Butts County Historical Society will be sponsoring the 33rd Annual Native Peoples Festival and PowWow on September 9th and 10th. The Festival will be held at the Indian Spring Hotel/Museum, 1807 Hwy 42 South in Flovilla, Ga.
Bring your family and friends to meet Native People from different nations, listen to their stories and see the colorful Native Peoples Regalia, enjoy the traditional music and hear the beating of the drums. Special guest, Dr. Gary Mcintosh, great-grandson of Chief William Mcintosh and James Floyd, recently retired as the Principal Chief of the Muscogee Nation. This event will be celebrating the 200th Anniversary of the Indian Spring Hotel, also known as the Mcintosh or Varner Hotel, built in 1823.
Grand Entry Saturday at 12 pm and Sunday at 1 pm and visit the Native Peoples vendors featuring arts, crafts and demonstration.
The hours are from 9 am to 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday. There is a donation of $5.00 dollar for adults and $3.00 for youths 5 to 17. Children 4 and younger are free.
Don’t forget to visit our Rose, Whimsical and Elizabeth Harris gardens, local shops, the Chapel and Marvelous Mavericks children’s playground.
