GEORGIA POWER ENERGY ASSISTANCE

The goal of this event is to help qualifying GA Power customers pay off their outstanding GA Power bill balances through the Georgia Rental Assistance (GRA) program. We want to help as many customers as possible wipe away their past due balance and they must do so by the end of March to receive these available funds!There are around 600  customers in the Flovilla, Jenkinsburg, greater-Jackson area who qualify. We have been reaching out to them via text, email and robocall but have not received many applications to date.

Customers can fill out the application on their own online or can visit our 3/14 event and have us assist them. Information can be found here: Georgia Rental Assistance (ga.gov). I?ve also attached a briefing card that can be shared about the program.

To be eligible to apply, you must:

• Be a Georgia Power Company customer
• Have received preliminary information regarding applying for this assistance from Georgia Power Company (would be received via text, email, phone call)
• Have a past due utility balance
• Live in one of 294 zip codes across the state
• Met all GRA program criteria to qualify for assistance

GRA Program Criteria:

• Be a renter in the state of Georgia
• Qualify for unemployment benefits or have experienced a reduction in household income
• Incurred significant costs or experienced a financial hardship since March 13, 2020
• Have experienced a clear and present threat of homelessness or housing instability due to an inability to pay for rent and/or utilities
• Have a household income that is below 80% of the area median income. Income qualifying info can be found here: Income Limits | HUD USER
