The Jackson-Butts County Council for the Arts
“From Days Gone By”
Meeting Date: September 14, 2023
at The Daughtry Foundation Building
238 East College Ave, Jackson
at 6 PM
The Jackson-Butts County Council for the Arts will hold their business meeting following a covered-dish supper featuring homemade Chicken ‘N Dumplings, hosted and provided by members Scarlett and Rob Thurston, Candee Carmichael and Walt Crosland, Ronne Shaw and Glenda Grant. The hosts will also provide homemade biscuits, tea, water, and some mineral water from Indian Springs.
Members are asked to complement the meal by bringing adult beverages, appetizers, salads, vegetables and desserts of their choice, preferably made from recipes that were their Grandmother’s favorite, or one they may have found in Grandmother’s recipe book! The committee will also offer a multi-layer homemade caramel cake to the lucky winner of the evening’s raffle.
Do you have a what-cha-ma-call-it, or a thing-a-ma-jig that Granny handed down to you? It may be your chance to find out if it’s a treasure, or something to include in your next yard sale! Members are invited to bring one old or antique item per person to be identified and valued by Mr. Mark Van Cil, who is a certified professional estate appraiser, and owner of Mark Van Cil Antiques LLC in Macon. Come for some delicious food, some old-timey fun, and to learn about the art of antiques and the ongoing work that’s being done by the Arts Council. Guests are welcome to attend!
