Jackson-Butts County Council for the Arts October Meeting Notice

??  It’s time to make plans to attend the October 10 meeting of the Arts Council, beginning at 6 pm, at the Daughtry Foundation Building, 221 College Street in Jackson.  Hosting for the evening will be Scarlet and Rob Thurston, Gail McLaurin, Hazel Newman and Glenda Grant.  They will be treating us to homemade Brunswick Stew and Chicken ‘n Dumplings, biscuits, iced tea and water!  Please plan to bring an appetizer, adult beverage, veggie or salad side dish, or a dessert to complete a delicious meal.  Social time begins at 6 pm, followed by our covered dish supper.

Our guest speaker, Candi Dickerson, will share her very unique style of Art using metal, a laser and a plasma table to create beautiful signs and various items such as brackets, hat holders, and k-cup holders.  Following this program, our business meeting will include updated committee reports and Nominations for officers for our November elections.  Upcoming October events for the Arts Council include The Student Art Show and Butts County Creates, both of which provide opportunities for amateur (non-professional) artists to exhibit their work to the public on October 26 at the Historic Courthouse in Jackson from 9:30 - 3:30.  Both of these events will be asking for your help with set up, monitoring, and take down…just a small but meaningful way that you can help to promote art within our community.
