Jackson-Butts County Council for the Arts September Meeting
Ah, September! The promise of cooler temperatures, and the return of a flurry of activities to fill our calendars! Reserve the second Thursday evening, September 12, at 6 pm, to join members and guests for a meeting of The Jackson-Butts County Council for the Arts, at the Daughtry Foundation building at 221 College Street in Jackson. Social time will be followed by a covered dish supper hosted by Candee Carmichael, Walt Crosland, Laura Richardson and Julie Collins. They will provide chicken, iced tea and water, and all are asked to please bring a hearty appetite as well as an appetizer, salad or veggie dish, dessert or adult beverage to add to the potluck and to share with all.
On display during the evening will be a sampling of a special collection of art belonging to Sheilagh and Tom Barclay of Atlanta. The Barclays will briefly share with us the story of their collection of R Scott Coleman art. We will also be treated to a program by Melody English, an artist in Jackson, who will tell us about her nature and travel journaling, and her work in watercolor, ink, pencil, charcoal and pastels.
A business meeting will follow, updating all of us on the current happenings and plans of the council committees, along with learning ways in which YOU can become more involved to help foster the arts and artists in our community. Bring your calendars, your interest and your willingness to get involved. Share the experience…Invite a guest to join you! Ah, September!!!
