Come to the Ribbon Cutting and find out how this project came to be.
2. Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the 2 new murals on corner of Mulberry and 3rd Street,
specifically on the side of the Mesquite Building.
Butts County secured a Vibrant Communities Grant through the Georgia Council for the Ars to help pay for the murals. An additional facade grant was obtained by the City of Jackson's Downtown Development Authority to help pay for cleaning and applying the base coat of paint to the side of building. This was a collaborative effort between the Butts County Chamber of Commerce, the Butts County Administration, City of Jackson DDA, and the Georgia Council for the Arts.
The owner of the building, Mr. Humberto Colin, granted permission for the artwork to be displayed on the building. K.P. Paining, LLC prepped and painted the side of the Mesquite building with a lovely shade from the City of Jackson's approved Historical Collection of colors. The Mayor and City Council voted to approve the murals. The artwork was completed by local artists ArtbyChasne&Chase, LLC.
This program is sponsored in part by the Georgia Council for the Arts through appropriations of the Georgia General Assembly. Georgia Council for the Arts also receives support from its partner agency - the National Endowment for the Arts.
